The Salewa GTX Mountain Trainer is a hard-wearing and versatile alpine approach shoe that comes in a low-cut style. Arriving with a high-quality 1.6-millimetre suede leather upper and a durable Vibram outsole. For regular hikers who take their footwear seriously, this is a real contender - capable of performing on a wide range of trekking terrains.
Salewa GTX Mountain Trainer Upper
A robust upper has a full protective rubber rand for 360° abrasion resistance over rocky terrain where foot jams can occur. It also has a fast-drying GORE-TEX® lining for durable waterproofing and optimised breathability on the trail. There is also a protective stretch gaiter underneath the laces area to keep rain and groundwater at bay.
Salewa Mountain Trainer Midsole
The improved construction on the Salewa MTN Trainer GTX Hiking Shoes is 15% lighter and more flexible than the original. It ensures a comfortable fit, while the enlarged PU midsole gives long-lasting shock absorbency and rebound. The climbing lacing system can also be fine-tuned at the toe for more all-embracing precision and support over technical terrain.
GTX Mountain Trainer Outsole & Grip
The multifunctional Vibram outsole on the Salewa MTN Trainer gives agility and stability in rugged terrain, even at high speeds. Its deep, self-cleaning grooves and aggressive lugs patterning guarantee a good grip on rock and scree and optimal traction on mud and grass. Under the midfoot, a unique tread zone configuration has distinct right-angled lugs. This lug patterning maximises the force applied through the foot for a more solid grip than a more traditional hiking shoe. The signature 3F system on the shoe joins the instep area with the sole and heel for flexibility, exact fit and support.
A cushioning OrthoLite footbed wicks away moisture, serving to keep your feet cool. The MTN Trainer 2 is made in Europe and gives the perfect alpine approach for the most challenging terrains - the ideal shoe for a serious and well-travelled hiker.
